Grow A Spine You Worm

At some point in your life you may have heard the epithet in the title.

Well the results of new research in Evolutionary Biology are turning that saying on its head.

The part of us we call our spine relies on a strip of cartilage called the Notochord. All spine bearing creatures are called Chordates because of this. We thought it was a relatively recent development in the animal world but apparently that is not so. Surprise!
