Just finished “Freaky Deaky” by Elmore Leonard
Publisher: Arbor House / William Morrow
Decided to check out Elmore’s writing. Saw him doing an interview on the tube and some of the things he said stuck with me and I eventually came across this book in the library discards.
He’s not into long descriptions of things that are peripheral to the plot – if the character doesn’t see, say, think or experience it then what place does it have in the text? At least that’s what I remember from his interview and I see it in this book. Mostly dialogue … I can understand why Hollywood likes to turn his novels in to movies. Low on the special effects and sets and large on the dialogue. Stuff to think about …
